The second big content strategy project I was put on was for Hospira. This project is where I first got the chance to create a content inventory, and I really enjoyed the work. We were tasked with a site redesign at first, and the client scaled it back a little, but we still redesigned the majority of their site. The website won a Web Marketing Associations "Web Award" for 2013, for outstanding achievement in web development!
I started off creating an inventory of Hospira's website, while a contractor I was working with handled their products site. My inventory can be found here! It was new for me, but I really enjoyed cataloguing the images, PDF's, broken links, and literally anything on the page. It gave me a sense of accomplishment scanning the pages for all the content, marking it and moving on. The client was over the moon with this deliverable, because it showed them everything on their site, directly in front of them.
After the inventory was complete I started with the CMS. The client chose to use Tridion, the same CMS I used at the City of Boston while interning there. The client and I were both excited that I knew the CMS, and thus got straight to work entering their content, and creating their Tridion cheat sheet. Have a look at that!
This was a great project because I learned how to create detailed content inventories! I really enjoyed entering the content into the CMS, but I had a lot of experience with that in college (and on Lonza) so creating the inventory was new and exciting.
